Mark Jackson and Jane Jelbart
Jack n Jel (not their real names) are a dynamic, collaborative, flexible, fun and funny workshop and performance duo from Newcastle, Australia. At home Mark and Jane (their real names) run 11 weekly ukestra/choir sessions, but they also have an international reputation for ukestration workshops, helping community ukulele groups to develop their musicianship and joy beyond hum n strum.
In performance garb, Jack n Jel have been variously described as 'mesmerising', 'funny' and 'a little brave'. They are a rare commodity - performers who can teach, teachers who can perform - using 8ish wee instruments jammed into life's overhead locker. That luggage also contains two books that distil their recipe for a successful business. From their daily uke-work at home, their reputation has reached across the Pacific (New Zealand, USA and Canada), where they have toured annually since 2011.

Sam Lemann
Sam's interest in the ukulele and Hawaiian music began in Perth back in the early 80s. He spent many years playing with steel guitar ace Lucky Oceans and together they formed their first Hawaiian band, many years before the current ukulele revival. Sam has since developed a sweet, jazzy island sound, a result of his annual visits to Hawaii since 2008. Sam has studied with island greats including Byron Yasui, Benny Chong, Kimo Hussey, Herb Ohta Jnr and slack key guitar masters Cyril Pahinui, George Kuo and Jeff Peterson.
A regular at many ukulele festivals, Sam, and sister Lucy, were recently treated to ukulele great James Hill joining them for a set at the Newcastle Ukulele Festival. Sam has also performed and conducted workshops at the Melbourne Ukulele Festival, Adelaide Guitar Festival and Fairbridge Folk Festival. He has given concerts in Fremantle with Hawaii's Kimo Hussey and has been a regular tutor at the Albany Ukulele Retreat for the last 3 years.
Although also in demand for his guitar work, Sam is often featured on ukulele with singers including Hetty Kate and Emma Hamilton. The ABC release "The Ukulele" features Sam on 8 tracks.

From his heartfelt original songs of Australian life to his unique treatments of traditional folk songs and fiddle tunes, Patrick uses his music to take audiences on a journey through his musical heritage and experiences as well as a journey through some of Australian culture's highways and byways. A skilled singer, songwriter, guitarist, fiddle player and entertainer, Patrick is also a senior guitar maker at Maton Guitars and recently had his song This Old Guitar played around the world as part of a promotion for the Biesse machines that Maton uses to help make their guitars. His song The Cooee March was also featured on ABC Radio's Australia All Over to help mark the 100th anniversary of this little known chapter of Australian history. Patrick can often be found backing other musicians and has worked with a veritable who's who of Australian folk music over the years including Danny Spooner, Ross Ryan, Hugh Macdonald, Marcia Howard, Janette Geri and Suzette Herft.
